As we get so close to Christmas time, family portraits are starting to fill up my calendar.  I had taken photos of these three last year and put together a Christmas Card for the family, and was invited back for round two this year!  I love when I get to see how fast children grow and it is always a blast to try something different every year.  We did the session at their home and neighboring field, and could really have asked for better light that day.  Enjoy the photos, and I will try and post the custom greeting card once it is complete!

After a very long sabbatical I am finally returning to my blog!  The last half of September and the first part of October made me realize that when you shoot over 40 sessions in three months, throw a new baby on top of that and life gets really busy.  Plus I was waiting for a great session like this one to start back up.  This was an engagement session I got to shoot for Kayla and Cole in Chicago and will be photographing the wedding next year in Colorado.  They are awesome!  Not just the photos, but Kayla and Cole are both such awesome people.  Even though the weather was typical of Chicago in November, Cold…. Rainy, they still showed up smiling faces and we walked the city together capturing some great photos.  Can’t wait for the wedding next year because they are such fun people!

This year has been full of first for unique senior portraits.  And after shooting over 100 seniors over the last few years Nisa and Shirin and were my first twins!  So cool, and it was so much fun to watch how not only they are sisters, but also seemed to pretty good friend as well!  We went up to some of the awesome locations in Boulder and got some great images, but when the weather rolled in we were stuck.  We decided to scrap the shoot and try again later this week, which is great because they still have so many fun ideas and I can guarantee I will have so many more great shots to share… trust me, you won’t want to miss them!  Here are a few from the first session, more to come!

This morning my wife and I welcomed Holden Matthew into our family! Holden was born at 1:37a and weighing in at 8lbs 1oz, 20.25" tall. Michelle, Coda and I feel so blessed to have this addition to our family. A note to my clients, I will be working a few days behind as I will be with Michelle and Holden in the hospital until Sunday. Thanks so much for your patience and I am looking forward to sharing lots of photos of the new little man!

Even though this has been another full weekend of graduate session, I had to pull these ones out from Erin’s session right away to share.  We started shooting at a few of my favorite spots in Denver, and found some new awesome ones as well.  Including the parking garage I have been eye-balling all year.  I have to say, the combination of her red dress and the contrasty natural light inside the garage made for a perfect match.  By far some of the most unique portraits I have done all year long.  Enjoy the photos and I will try and get a few more of my sessions up from this weekend.

What I thought was going to be a rain out/ reschedule turned into one of the greatest days of the year for photography.  The clouds provided nice soft light and so we were able to get some awesome portraits for Courtney.  We headed up to Chautauqua Park in Boulder, which is a place that is usually very difficult to get portraits, mostly because there is not much for shade around, so you are forced to shoot in open spaces.  Not all bad, but on a day with no clouds it is very challenging.  The photos look great, and I went ahead and pulled my favorites to share.

Thang took advantage of my mini-session deal, and while it may be "mini", we still shot a lot of photos, and still got some great results.  If you are interested in taking advantage of the deal, I do still have a few slots available over the next few weeks.  Make sure you contact me soon as I am booking quickly for the remainder of the month.  Below are a few of my favorites from his session, and keep in mind, we were able to get all of these awesome images in under 20 minutes!

So the other day Michelle and I took Coda out to get some photos.  For those that have never met them… that is my wife and 3…. almost 4 year old son!  Coda is always so funny when we take photos because he would much rather be the photographer than the model (like his dad) even though he is such a ham in front of the camera.  This was cool because Michelle was also taking photos and happened to snap this one of me on the ground shooting him.  After looking through all the pictures I saw that I took a photo at the exact same time, but of Coda!  It is a good illustration of how the scene looks, and how the final product looks once out of the camera.  I know the photos had to be taken only seconds apart because of his hands and facial expression in both, and trust me, he can never stay in one spot for long :)

Here is another group session that I shot about a month ago, and after looking through the pictures there were so many that were awesome.  These girls were great, and very well prepared if I may so myself.  They brought bubbles.  Bubbles were awesome.  It was so cool to mix it up and for a shot of them together blowing the bubbles it made them fun and unique.  They also brought their flutes, and so we got to do the urban take on fluting.  Below are the photos I liked, but there were SO many from there session that were great, I think for both of them we shot close to 1000 images total!

september senior deal.

September 3rd, 2008 by zach

For the September senior special I am going to try something a little different. This is an awesome deal because you can take advantage of it even if you have already had your portraits done, or want to get some more that are a little different, maybe even with a friend. So here’s the deal… 20 minute mini sessions! That’s right, on every Friday evening for the month of September I will offer only 4 – 20 minute session for only $50 each! Here’s the plan, I will start the sessions at 5:00p at a set location, each week is different and booked on a first come basis. Each session is 20 minutes long, so you will want to be there on time so you don’t miss out. Every session will have an online gallery to proof and order prints as well as your yearbook image. Here is the location itinerary so you can have you choice of style.

September 5 – Grassy Field/ Mountain Views – Louisville
September 12 – Denver Urban
September 19 – Train Tracks
September 26 – Flagstaff Rock Cropping’s OR Popular demand.

Book early because the sessions are so limited and this is an awesome chance to get something different! Also, if you were wondering why there was no August session it’s because I was completely booked out! Thanks so much to all the awesome student and their families who help spread the word because it was all you guys that filled my calendar!
